On January 14, 2025, the Kyievo-Sviatoshynskyi District Court of the Kyiv Region delivered a verdict in the criminal proceedings concerning a road traffic accident, as a result of which the victim sustained injuries of medium gravity. The interests of the victim in this case were represented by experienced attorneys from the Attorneys Association “Bauman Kondratyuk”—Mr. Yurii Bauman and Ms. Mariia Koshova.
Factual Circumstances of the Case
On July 19, 2024 defendan while under the influence of alcohol, was driving a car “Volkswagen Passat,” in violation of traffic regulations, which led to a road traffic accident. As a result of the accident, the victim suffered multiple fractures of the pelvic bones and the acetabulum. Subsequently, due to complications arising from these injuries, the victim’s health significantly deteriorated and ultimately led to his death.
Ms. Mariia Koshova provided comprehensive legal support for the civil claim. She ensured the preparation of the evidentiary base, which included the costs of medical treatment, funeral expenses, and moral damages.
Consequently, the court upheld the victim’s claims by awarding UAH 135,391.24 in material (pecuniary) damages and UAH 300,000 in moral (non-pecuniary) damages. Thanks to her professionalism, the validity of these claims was established despite challenging circumstances related to insufficient documentary evidence for certain expenses.
Ms. Mariia Koshova added:

Mr. Yurii Bauman provided legal representation of the victim within the framework of the criminal proceedings. His responsibilities included representing the victim’s interests in court hearings, coordinating actions with the prosecutor, and formulating the position on holding the defendant liable under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Through his efforts, the court rendered a verdict sentencing the defendant to two years of imprisonment and revoking his right to operate motor vehicles for three years.
